Differences between the Articles Slider and Articles Slideshow modules
As you may have noticed, we offer two modules for download that may look quite similar. Some might get confused and ask themselves,
"Is there really a difference between the Articles slider and the Articles slideshow modules?"
Although both modules share the same architecture, there are some important differences.
Klixo articles slider module, gets the Joomla articles from the selected categories and builds a series of slides WITHOUT reformatting the content. Which can be exactly what you need, if you want to display the articles the way they have been created, or create a text tickerbox to display top stories on your site for instance.
Klixo articles slideshow module also pulls the content from Joomla articles, additionally it offers more possibilities to reformat the content of the articles to create the slideshow.
The work behind the scene
The slideshow module, extracts the first image found in the Joomla article, the title of the article and the introduction text to create each slide.
This makes things easier when preparing the content, since you don't have to worry about how to position the images with css or resize each image separately in the articles you want to use for the slides. This is handled by the slideshow module.
The parameters available in the slideshow administration interface offer several options to finetune how the module will play the slides.
Image settings

- Image position (left or right on the slide)
- Image adjustement (crop or resize)
The image resizing is a very handy feature. Thanks to this, you don't have to resize in advance each photo or picture for your slideshow. The module will do all the work for you, and adjust automatically all the images according to the parameters selected.
- Image background (solid color, color gradient, transparent)
The background style lets you change the color and the style of the background to display behind each picture. If you use pictures with PNG transparency, you can for instance add a color gradient background to them.
Content settings
Most settings are self explanatory and should be easy to understand. The contextual help available for each field, provides further explanation if needed.
You can for instance decide to strip all the text content and display only the images in your slides.
You can also decide to limit the lenght of the text displayed and display a "Read More" link that will open the corresponding Joomla article.
Best is to experiment and choose the settings that best suit your needs.
Slideshow and navigation settings
The slideshow settings panel let you adjust all parameters regarding how the slideshow will play.
You can select one or more transition effects to play between each slide, adjust how long each slide will stay on screen and the duration of the transitions.
The navigation settings panel lets you decide wether to add back and next arrows and button or numbers for each slide displayed at the bottom of the slideshow.
